In the past several weeks, Yes Cascadia has been so excited to be leading the way for a new and alternative model for organizing and movement building for the Pacific Northwest. However, the recent election has been a catalyzing moment for many individuals on a diverse political spectrum. While Cascadia seeks to break down these political divides that we feel are arbitrary, and break power down to every watershed and community, we are also aware that a vocal minority of individuals have been working to appropriate the symbols and language of Cascadia, and to espouse hate and fear.
To be clear, the Yes Cascadia coalition rejects all hate. We believe in an inclusive movement, that shows the beauty of this region, it's people and our incredible diversity. We reject racism, hate, fear, sexism, white supremacy, or any type of discrimination based on sexual orientation, religion, personal beliefs or choices. We look forward to building a coalition movement that empowers every person and community, and that incorporates and provides space for indigenous, POC, and traditionally marginalized communities to advocate with their own voices, and find solidarity and support.
Apathy and non-action is no longer a choice. In the coming months and years, it is the duty of each of us to protect our communities, our friends, and neighbors, and to reach with compassion to make this world a better place.
